Terms and conditions
All bookings are accepted at the discretion of
Alec Roberts. If booking on behalf of a third
party you accept these terms on their behalf,
all participants should be aware of these terms
and conditions.
1. FEES
1.1. All course fees are exempt of VAT.
1.2 Places will be reserved after receipt of
a completed booking form and full payment or
deposit.
1.3 The balance of the fee is payable 4 weeks
prior to the commencement of the course. In the
event that the balance is not paid we will have
the discretion to treat the booking as cancelled
by the client and re-sell the course place.
1.4 The whole course fee is required to reserve
a place for any booking made within 4 weeks of
the commencement of the course.
1.5 The course fee is for the dates specified on
your booking form. We cannot amend the dates
once you have been allocated a course space. If
you cannot attend the course this will be
treated as a cancellation.
Gift vouchers:
1.6 Open dated 'vouchers' are valid for 12
months from purchased date and are redeemable
against the cost of a place / places on
available courses.
2. CANCELLATION BY CLIENT
2.1 All cancellations must be in writing
2.2 Alec Roberts will endeavour to re-sell the
course place once notified of the cancellation
by the client.
2.3 In the event that the course is resold prior
to the commencement of the course, the client
will receive a full refund less 20% of the
course fee to cover administration costs.
2.4 Refunds will only be made after the start
date of the course has commenced.
2.5 In the event that the course is not resold
prior to the commencement of the course, the
client will be charged the following
cancellation fees:-
2.5.1 50% of the total paid where cancellation
takes place up to 4 weeks prior to the
commencement of the course; or
2.5.2 75% of the total course fee where
cancellation takes place less that 4 weeks
before the commencement of the course; or
2.5.3 90% of the total course fee where
cancellation takes place within the final 1
weeks before the commencement of the course.
3 CANCELLATION BY Alec Roberts
3.1 Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that
advertised courses actually run, Alec Roberts
will notify the client of cancellation as soon
as practicable where it is believed that
cancellation is necessary due to dangerous
and/or unsuitable conditions for the course
activity.
3.2 Alec Roberts will notify the client of
cancellation not less than five days prior to
the commencement of the course where numbers as
a result of client (s) cancellation failed to
reach a workable minimum for the commencement of
the course.
3.3 Alec Roberts will not be liable for costs
incurred by the client beyond the full course
fee.
3.4 In the event of cancellation clients will be
offered the choice of the following options:-
3.4.1 Full refund of the course fee paid;
3.4.2 Another course on a different date.
4 SAFETY & PARTICIPATION STATEMENT
4.1 Climbing and mountaineering are activities
with a danger of personal injury or death. By
booking a course in these activities you are
aware of and accept these risks and will be
responsible for your own actions and
involvement. The risks can never be completely
removed and that by accepting these terms you
confirm that you are familiar with the nature of
the activities that you wish to undertake and
acknowledge those risks that are inherent
therein and that you may freely withdraw from
any activity without penalty and there is no
pressure whatsoever to take part. Participants
under the age of 18 years will be required to be
accompanied by a parent or guardian.
4.2 Unless otherwise expressed, it is assumed
that any photographs taken during the course by
Alec Roberts may be used for advertising
purposes and any participant feed back may also
be quoted for advertising purposes and
attributed to the participant.
5 INSURANCE & LOSS
The courses do not include any personal
accident, cancellation, third party liability or
personal injury insurance. We recommend that you
take out your own insurance policy in relation
to this. No responsibility will be accepted
whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to
personal property.
